HVAC System Inspection
What you can’t see can’t harm you, right? WRONG!
- Dust, fibres, pollen and soot can infiltrate ventilation ductwork, especially through inadequately filtered systems. They can be blown directly through the system and into the occupied rooms where they can potentially aggravate allergies causing skin rashes etc, and give rise to respiratory problems such as asthma.
- Fungi and bacteria can colonise in debris contained in air ducts. The dark, moist surroundings of a ventilation duct assist fungal and bacterial proliferation, causing multiplication to reach high levels of concentration.
- Microbial contaminants can become dislodged, enter the air stream and be discharged into the occupied space where people are working. This is very undesirable and represents a potential health risk to employees.
- HVAC System internal condition testing is carried out as part of a Risk Assessment to determine if plant and ductwork surfaces are contaminated with foreign matter that may present varying levels of risk to health, process, product and fire.
Free Assessment
An initial free assessment is carried out to determine cost of inspection and condition report.
- Visually inspect system
- Note AHU and Fan conditions
- Determine duct length and access for cleaning
What we might find
If ductwork is contaminated we might find:
- Varying levels of dust, soot and fibres.
- Construction debris including bottles, cans, bricks, tools, discarded food, etc.
- Insect infestation.
- Water, mould and fungal contamination.
- Blockages and airflow restrictions.
- Damaged system components.
Inspection Equipment
Enviro Hygiene have a range of equipment to inspect any pipe or duct opening from 25 mm to the largest openings. Our equipment includes:
- Digital cameras
- 15 & 32 mm remote inspection snake cameras
- Remote controlled robot inspection cameras
Professional Risk Assessment
The information collected from an initial inspection must be professionally assessed with respect to the risk presented to building occupants and product. The report should contain the following information:
- Photographs or video of findings.
- Condition report of system.
- Description of contamination found, if any.
- Risk assessment to occupants / product.
- Additional sample testing by an accredited laboratory may be required.
- System Cleaning / Remedial work proposal.
- Costs and timeframe.
Why Regular Inspection Saves Money?
Eliminates staff perception that HVAC system is making them feel ill – show them the report.
- Reduces absenteeism.
- Allows client to maintain the system operating at peak efficiency and power consumption.
- Reduces risk of emergency maintenance.
